...I think I just heard Zerase roll her eyes. Considering the distance we are at relative to the first group, and the fact that she already has to deal with Roy, Subala and Lorelai...
This can only mean they are fighting Alenia again.
Maybe I should drag Kyle away from Jeane for a moment so that we can move on and do our job. |

All things considered, it looks like I lucked in on the sanest group. Comparatively speaking, at least.
Hopefully, Kyle will not be spending all his time flirting with Jeane, though. |

| [ | mood |
| | thoughtful | ] | The Prince is currently recruiting more people, so I think we should figure out something about What To Do.
Actually, I just had this thought after looking at a comment Roy made on his journal. He mentioned how perhaps Gizel Godwin expected Miakis to join our side so that she could have her little outburst at Sir Georg. Now, given what we know, the reason why he would plan for this to happen would be in order to keep any suspicions away from Sialeeds. Basic subterfuge, really.
Which brought forth this thought: what if the person who will hurt Lyon won't be aiming at Lyon? |

I can't believe I missed seeing that glowing woman in white just now, but I see we now have some sort of Tablet of Promise or whatever. Zerase was muttering something about how "she" was late.
Seeing how the thing is almost three quarters full, I can see that.
Not sure whether being the "Star of Haste" is accurate or not, though.

[Mar. 7th, 2007|03:22 pm] |
For some reason that escapes me, the Prince decided to have me accompany him to Nirva Island. At least he also brought Lorelai, who takes to the sea even worse than he. This despite her hailing from an island. |

| ELEVATION! |
[Feb. 20th, 2007|11:46 am] |
Babbage and Sorensen are finally done with their work on the castle's gear room. In exchange for studying the Sindar gearwork further, Babbage agreed to join the Aurora Army.
More importantly, we now have a working elevator here at Shanshu Castle. Figures the Sindar would have invented such a contraption in the first place. |

[Feb. 7th, 2007|08:40 pm] |
Sorensen has just found a most impressive contraption inside a room next to the Base Level's dual unmoving-but-probably-sliding doors. He and the Prince just left for Estrise to inform Professor Babbage about this discovery.

| Pieces shifting... |
[Feb. 4th, 2007|01:15 am] |
For some reason that escapes me, I was assigned to assist Luserina in coordinating the new layout of the castle/army structure. Somehow, Roy found out about this before everyone else and insisted that I give him one of the new rooms on the "Inn turret".
At any case, most of the restructuring is done and the whole thing will be complete just in time for when the Prince "returns" from his sabbatical. Among the main changes are:
- The Oboro Detective Agency, previously located in Raftfleet, is now in the northeast corner of the Base Level. - The infirmary is two rooms to the west of the Oboro Detective Agency. - The room where the infirmary used to be remains empty, and is apparently reserved for the eventual arrival of Oracle Haswar Falenas. - The south portion of the Base Level is the new recreational hall. Cornelio's DoReMi Elf Symphony Orchestra will perform there on occasions, issues of the Dawn Times will be bought there instead of on the First Level, and a restaurant may be installed there if anyone feels so inclined. - The docks have been moved from west of the castle's main building to the far south, near where the Beavers are. - Representatives from all towns and cities allied to the Aurora Army can now be reached on their thematically assigned rooms on the "Inn turret", the sole exception being Raftfleet, which is on the northwest wing of the Base level, between the cartography room and the library. - And yes, we now have a cartography room and a library. Alhazred is placing most of his collection there for the army's perusal, and is encouraging any and all submissions. |

| Heads up |
[Jan. 25th, 2007|04:16 pm] |
So I've been looking into some of the Dwarves' underground pathways as Lucretia requested. They're still on the fence, but they were cooperative enough to pass some information which I will include in my next report.
Incidentally, some of the newer pathways will be causing the water level of Ceras Lake to lower a bit over the next few days. Just in time, too; I was running out of places to examine. |

| Back from the Hole |
[Oct. 8th, 2006|05:36 pm] |
Well, we returned from our little excursion into the Big Hole with more questions than answers, but all in all it was a most educational experience - it's not everyday that you find underground ruins of a city from the Ancient Armes Dynasty, after all.
There's still, of course, the matter of how Jeane knew of this, given how, as I had mentioned to Lun before, the Big Hole was made only recently, and I somehow doubt Levi or his pupil would have told anyone about the odd door Jeane had opened. Perhaps I should ask her afterwards, and hope she lets something slip. |

[Sep. 20th, 2006|07:21 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | calm | ] | All things considered, things could have been much worse: the western islet leader helped us reduce fire-related casualties, the army now has all 3 islets on its side and, well, we're not the ones who ran away with our tails between our legs.
Also, I think that armor merchant from the western islet just joined. I'll see if he has anything worth purchasing after I have my interview with Taylor. |

Well, looks like I'm getting dragged off with the rest to help out with whatever's going to happen on Lelcar. At least this gives me some extra time to mentally prepare myself for my interview with Mr. "200-Syllables-per-Minute". |

| No rest for the remaining |
[Sep. 6th, 2006|06:25 pm] |
Thankful as I am for not being on the groups going to Sable or Lelcar, I should point out that the reporter fellow is still in the castle.
Seriously, he just approached me while I was going to the docks and asked me questions about the castle (for which I agreed to do an interview later), the Prince's love life (what?) and what is up between the "Raftfleet girls of contrasting chest sizes".
...The fact that he accurately guessed Subala's gender notwithstanding, what the hell? Seriously, if this is because lesbians sell papers, there are other places to look for, in this very castle, even, than with two teenagers. |

| Funding the Aurora Army one appraisal at a time |
[Aug. 12th, 2006|08:32 pm] |
Ever since the Prince recruited that appraiser fellow from Haud, he's done little more than fishing and bringing odd pots to him. Most likely, he'll soon remember that he has a war to continue, but in the meantime I'm taking advantage of the current lull to continue my study of the castle unmolested.
Of particular note are some peculiar doors found on the north end of each floor, save for the top one. No doubt everyone has already seen them, but they are all sealed shut. Upon further analysis, as well as consulting with Sorensen, it would seem that they are all interconnected by some as-of-yet unknown mechanism, and each pair of doors might slide open once the mechanism in question were activated.
I suppose I'll have to wait for the water level to lower before continuing my investigation on these doors. |

| (no subject) |
[Aug. 10th, 2006|05:29 pm] |
While I am inclined to believed that Subala isn't Lun's ex-boyfriend (or ex-girlfriend, rather), I am not so quick to buy Lorelai's protestations of Killey not being an "old friend".
Good thing he didn't choose to stay, though. We already have one scholar too many here.
By the way, I saw the Prince take away some paintings from the storeroom before making a beeline - or rather, a semi-circle - to Viki and her Warping Mirror. Quite odd. |

| Castle of Life and Death |
[Aug. 9th, 2006|11:52 pm] |
The Prince had asked me for a Sindar name for the castle shortly before the rest of the army arrived here. So yes, that means I'm the reason why this place is now called Shanshu Castle - "shanshu" being a word which defines both life and death, thus causing a good deal of headaches to translators everywhere. At least he didn't go for Sindar Castle or Mohawk Head Castle or *groans* Castle of the May Sigh Shimmering on the Pale Moon Lake.
Our army tactician, ladies and gentlemen.
I also found an interesting room on the highest floor. Once the Prince shined the Dawn Rune on the appropriate part, we saw a rather upsetting image of a forested mountainside being razed to the ground by a scorching ray of light. The dark-robed sorceress Zerase - who, judging from Lyon's reaction, had already met the Prince on less-than-ideal circumstances - then appeared, assured us that we had just seen an image from the past, and mentioned how she would be staying here to observe the performance of the new Dawn Rune bearer.
So I now have an entire building to research with, and all I have to do is assist the Aurora Army every now and then. All in all, a good deal.
Incidentally, walls like these simply aren't built anymore. There is blessed silence inside the Sealed Room, despite Cornelio practicing right outside. |
|
|
| Well... |
[Aug. 8th, 2006|02:43 pm] |
On the one hand, turning this building into the Aurora Army's headquarters means I won't be able to study it in peace (relative peace, since I would still have to deal with Lorelai). What's more, I would have to join them in order to carry on my inspection, which goes against my beliefs of keeping science away from politics.
On the other hand, if I could have some soldiers assist with my research on the Army's off-time, I could have the entire place analyzed in no time. Not to mention that having the Prince's army stationed here means I wouldn't have to deal with my Godwin-sponsored rivals.
Hmm... |
